Parenthood is a blessing but have you noticed that since the time you became a parent a new fearful you has taken birth inside? A part of you is always concerned about your child’s health, his growth and his development. We keep on checking our baby’s weight and start to worry even if he looses a few grams. Being a mother myself, I know how hard it is to make your baby gain weight and health over a period of time. I also know how just one blow of cold and cough can ruin the entire health of your baby.
I always wondered if there is any cure for these repetitive infections. Our children are exposed to so many germs, infections and bacteria in a day that it gets hard for the mothers to take care of it all. After trying all the medicines my doctor prescribed, I resorted to the use of some immunity booster foods for my child. And believe me these foods have made her strong from within. Her immunity has increased many folds and even after playing with the kids who are suffering from infections, she manages to escape getting sick.
Today I am here to share with all you mommies, the miracle immunity booster foods which you can give to your child on daily basis. It will not just improve your child’s infection fighting capacity, it will also give your baby all the vital nutrition which is required for his all round development.
As we all already know, yogurt is the best probiotic your child can have. A probiotic aids a child’s digestion and he is able to absorb all the nutrition from all the foods you give. Yogurt is a blend of all the good bacteria your child needs for a healthy intestinal tract and a boost in his immunity.
You can add yogurt in your child’s diet in the form of curd, buttermilk or raita. You can add boiled veggies to the curd to make it all the more delicious. A pinch of dried mint and roasted cumin makes the consumption of curd even healthier.
Figs also called as anjeer, is a nutrition packed fruit which has many essential nutrients such as Mangenese, Vitamin B1, B2, calcium, iron, and Potassium which gives a child’s immunity a boost. You can give figs to your child directly as fruit or alternatively you can use dried figs. Just soak them in a cup of water a night before and give them to your child early in the morning with milk. You can always add them to their halwa or blen them with their milk shakes.
Broccoli is a vegetable which is super charged with vitamins and minerals. Rich in Vitamin A, C and E, Broccoli is also rich in anti oxidants and fiber. As a mother this is the healthiest vegetable you can add to your child’s food schedule. I know that children don’t like the taste of broccoli, so you can just add little portions of it in their soup, their curd, their parathas, or their vegetables. Just grate uncooked broccoli on top of his foods as it is best served raw to maintain it nutrition.
To make your child develop a stronger immunity against cold and cough, you have to take charge of giving your child ample supply of Vitamin C. It aids in the production of White blood cells and hence is the best remedy to cure coughs and colds. It works wonders when given to a child on a regular basis. Vitamin C can be found in the foods below:
- Bell Peppers
It is a well known fact that body doesn’t produce Vitamin C on it’s own. You need a regular supply of it to keep your health in check. It’s a surprise that bell peppers contain twice the Vitamin C as compared to the Citrus fruits. You can add bell peppers while making your child’s vegetables or can just add drops of lemon to his food. Along with the boost in immunity, Vitamin C also aids in making your skin glow.
Garlic’s immune boosting properties come from some heavy concentrations of Sulfur containing compounds such as allicin. It has all the anti viral, antiseptic, anti bacterial and anti oxidant properties. It boosts the production and revival of white blood cells and hence plays a major role in boosting a child’s immunity. To add garlic in your child’s diet, you can add a clove or two in his dal or soup.
Next time you plan a meal for your child, please take care that you add these foods to him. All the above foods are to be given daily in one form or the other. You can very soon bid goodbye to the sneezes, or runny nose or recurring viral infections.
