Since the weather is having a mood of it’s own, it keeps swaying between too hot and too humid for the countries like ours. We often feel under the weather and mostly our bodies heal itself by having a high body temperature. Having temperatures above the normal range of 38.3 degrees Celsius or 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit​, counts as fever. Such high body temperatures lead to muscle pain and inflammation too.

To understand the mechanism a bit deeper, Fever is our body’s response to any bacterial, parasitical or any other form of infection. Body raises it’s temperature to a point where the infections can’t survive. It body’s own mantra to heal itself. However it is recommended that one should consult a doctor if any fever is noticed, yet adults prefer to deal mild fever with home remedies. The doctors usually recommend paracetamol or Ibuprofen for the treatment. Here we are presenting to you some very effective home remedies to treat fever at home.

1. Tulsi

Well, as we all know that Tulsi or Basil is the ingredient which is the favourite of all the elderly. Tulsi has many anti-bacterial properties which curb the infection and heals the body quickly. A study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology showed that Tulsi leaves stimulate the production of immune cells namely T cytokines, NK (natural killer) cells and T lymphocytes to protect against infection.
 Having a cup of Tulsi tea or a spoon full of Tulsi juice can boost the immunity to a great extent. It’s anti inflammatory compounds help in lowering the temperature and treats coughs and colds as well. Tulsi is also infused with Many anti oxidants which remove toxins from your system and acts as a cleansing agent after a fever. Regular use of Tulsi is recommended in Ayurveda because of its numerous health benefits.

Ginger

Ginger is a natural anti viral as it raises the body temperature further to flush out the infections. Ginger attacks the roots of all evil and kills the bacteria with it’s powerful anti bacterial properties. Having ginger tea three times a day while suffering from fever will help in faster recovery.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar is the most underrated of all. This excellent home remedy is never used to it’s full potential in any house hold. Apple cider vinegar alkalises the body and helps fight flu infections. Sometimes just a foot bath with ACV added to a bucket full of water is enough to get rid of the fever. Alternatively, you can mix equal proportions of ACV with honey and have as a substitute of paracetamol.  It works wonders.

Garlic

One more wonder herb found in our kitchen. Garlic is known for its anti fungal and anti bacterial properties. It helps the body in lowering it’s temperature by promoting sweating. The body also flushes out the toxins in the process of sweating and moves towards a speedy recovery. Finely minced garlic cloves boiled in water, work as a miracle potion.

Turmeric

Turmeric has also proved to be very effective in treating fever. The chemical compound called Curcumin in turmeric contains potent antiviral, anti-fungal, antibacterial and antioxidant properties.
Just having a glass full of turmeric milk can do wonders to your body. Fighting the infections, boosting immunity, aiding sinusitis are just a few of it’s affects.
